V3 and IBM have put together a promotional but none the less interesting website about the history of IT, from the earliest teleprinter (not that that’s what it was called) via the work of Bletchley Park so vital to the war effort (and so vital to be saved now for posterity) – illustrated above – and on to the more familiar computing we’ve all come to know and, er, love. Interesting way to while away your coffee break.
I’m trying not to take it personally, but twice in two days I’ve received an email auto-responder letting me know that someone is uncontactable as they’re busy, but they know I’ve got in touch and will respond soon. Now I think of it, I had another one a few weeks ago. My overwhelming reaction is ‘good for you’. We can’t always be available to have a half hour phone conversation that could have been avoided by a two-minute email, and we can’t always stop what we’re doing to check or answer emails. Rarely is it critical that something is dealt with there and then.
So good for you guys, and I’m happy to wait my turn. Now if only I could train all *my* contacts to be so well-behaved and patient…
Canonical has released Ubuntu for Android – hoorah says us. We’re dyed-in-the-wool Android users here at OpenSure Towers and have been hoping for this move for quite some while. We’ll be watching developments like a kettle of hawks and will report back.
